The future of greener building materials is here
If your firm or client is looking to design their next project with minimal environmental impact, GRP building materials create endless opportunities to save time, money and the environment.
Cheaper and better for the environment than steel, GRP is the future of building materials.
What is GRP?
GRP or glass reinforced plastic (also called FRP – fibre reinforced plastic) is a composite plastic that can be extruded into virtually any shape, is cheap to make and can easily be made fire resistant.
GRP is not to be confused with a plastic (although technically it is a plastic) – it’s properties and usage have very little in common with conventional 'thermoplastics'.
GRP is:-
- Incredibly strong
- Very lightweight
- Virtually non-degradable
- More sustainable than aluminium, steel or timber
- Comes in a wide variety of colours & textures
- Doesn’t melt
Cheap, easy to use and no additional tools needed for installation
One of the best aspects of using GRP components in your designs is that builders won’t need any additional tools to build using this material. Light fabrication can easily be completed using a drill, circular saw, jig saw, reciprocating saw and hand grinder.
GRP can be used in many different architectural scenarios
Given that our range of GRP products are so flexible, there’s a wide range of different applications that our products can be used in. Structural shapes, grating, decking, stairs and handrails, ladders and cages and fabricated structures for mining, chemical plants, wastewater treatment plants, pedestrian bridges, jetties, utilities and beachside structures are just a few of the uses.
